Tribute to our Jo

Farewell to our lovely Jo

We are deeply saddened to share the news today of the passing of one of our founders Jo Yeatman.
Jo, who was a founding member of the Dorset Food and Arts Festival committee died peacefully at the beginning of May.

As secretary of Dorset Farmers’ Market, she was involved with the festival from the start.Throughout the festival’s history Jo was instrumental in organising the food and drink producer stalls.
Christine Walsh of the Duchy of Cornwall described ‘our lovely Jo’ as an “absolute lynch pin of the organisation as well as being a great support and friend to us all.”

She added: “We are all so sad about Jo – we will miss her hugely. She was a lovely person and was such an important part of the Dorset Food and Arts Festival. She was one of those calm, quiet people who got on with things and we are only now realising just how much she did behind the scenes!”

As a fitting tribute to Jo, who was not only a fabulous cook but such an advocate for Dorset produce, we are publishing a recipe book for this year’s festival. The festival will be on Saturday 5th August 2017 and the book will feature contributions from the chefs, food producers, our patrons and the committee. All monies raised from the sale of the book will be donated to Dorset Farmers’ Markets and a brain cancer charity.

We hope that people who come to this year’s festival will buy the book and make it a very special event in memory of Jo, who was always so full of energy and enthusiasm for the festival.
