Since 2012, the Dorset Food & Arts Festival has gone from strength to strength and every year it raises thousands of pounds for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust and many other local causes.
Each year the festival is managed by a committee of volunteers and the last festival alone raised more than £5,000 for local charity Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
In total the festival has raised more than £13,000 for local charities. This year the Dorset Food & Arts Festival has increased its charitable causes to these invaluable four local charities:
Weldmar Hospicecare Trust
Weldmar Hospicecare is a charity for people with a life-limiting illness living in Dorset. Their compassionate approach supports patients and their families, medically and in other ways, in the community, in the hospice and at home.
All their care is free and reliant on public donations.
Fortuneswell Cancer Trust
The Fortuneswell Cancer Trust is a registered charity that works to improve the services to patients and staff of the Cancer Unit at Dorset County Hospital and elsewhere.
Dorchester Opportunity Group
The Dorchester Opportunity Group (DOG) is a non-profit registered charity established in 1993 to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for preschool children with a wide variety of additional needs and support for their parents, carers and siblings. They are based at the Prince of Wales Preschool Centre in Dorchester where their service is run by a voluntary Board of Trustees and an experienced staff team.
Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution
The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution is a welfare charity which changes lives for the better.
They offer financial support to farming people in hardship of all ages. They treat every application for support on its own merits, working with compassion and discretion.
To qualify for long-term financial support, applicants must normally be 65 or over and have worked in farming for at least 10 years. Dependants can also qualify for assistance. The trustees retain the discretion to help people at all times.
