A Big Thank You from Dorset Food & Arts
Foodies from across the county flocked to Poundbury on Saturday 3rd August for a slice of our annual Dorset Food & Arts Festival. This free event saw Queen Mother Square packed with thousands of visitors and over 80 stalls offering a wide range of treats – food, drink, arts and activities. The stalls were all stocked with the very best that Dorset has to offer and made the perfect opportunity for visitors to meet and chat with local producers and pick up produce exclusive to the county. Food, drink and arts all mixed together adds to the charm of the Dorset Food & Arts Festival, featuring baked goods, delicious local meats, cheeses, beautiful paintings and prints; plus, stunning parasols!
Like any good home, the heart of the action was in the kitchen. Our Demo Kitchen was laden with demonstrations from top local chefs. Celebrity TV chef Lesley Waters kick started the festival and cooked up a storm with a huge audience, followed by the likes of Russell Brown, Andy Chu, Sarah Ali Choudhury and a fantastic local produce auction with Brace of Butchers.
The crowds became even larger throughout the day and really added to the fabulous atmosphere the festival has. Live music was provided by many talented acts including Dorset Wrecks, Just Sing Choir and Weymouth Ukuleleans.
The ever-popular festival was yet again organised by Dorset Food & Drink, with the support of Dorset Farmers Markets and the Duchy of Cornwall. And we couldn’t run the festival without the local food, drink and art businesses, our kind sponsors and charities.
A big thank you to everyone who attended, we hope you had a fabulous foodie day out!
